Race and Audi S4, and WON!!!!

Damn that thing was fast. I was heading east on lake street and he came up behind me a little faster than traffic. When he got next to me he goosed the throttle, damn that thing took off fast! He settled back even with me and we came to a red light.

I wasn't sure if he wanted to race because he wasn't looking at me, just talking to his GF. Well the light went green and I rolled out and at 15mph I hammered it, tires squealed and on the 1-2 shift they broke loose again. I let off the gas because he hadn't taken off.

Rolling along at about 45mph he was 2 car lengths behind me when I saw his headlights dip and he started catching up quick. I hit it, felt the 4-2 downshift and took off. He was gaining on me quick from his head start but before he got past my fender we were moving at the same speed. 3rd gear hit and then the TC locked up around 80mph. I was still ahead and I was gaining slightly. A blazer pulled onto the road and the Audi driver shut down. I hit the brakes and we rolled to a stop at the next light. I gave him a nod and decided I was done racing, my on-ramp was coming up soon.

I needed to change from the left most lane to the right most lane for an on-ramp so I put my turn signal on. He shot ahead of me and I pulled behind him, then over to the right lane. As I pulled behind him I saw the S4 badge on the back and couldn't beleive it.

My car isn't stock, but it has the stock chip and a stock TPI base. I know there is lots of power left in it, but it does well. It looked like a 2004 S4.

Nice kill man, Thats what I like to see, other GTA owners holding their own against modern monsters. Way to show what the old GTA can do!

Funny part is, in less than two weeks its going down for a HSR/Hotcam swap. Then off to get dyno tuned.

And I still have to do a rear end swap cause my 9bolt isn't very happy anymore and I'm not putting the money into rebuilding it.

*** I hope I make the July 9th track rental!

I love your 'site. Sweet GTA!!! I had a white '87 350 IROC in the past, but always wanted a GTA. The best part is he didn't know if he was beat by a turbo 3.8L or a 5.7L car.

I'm pretty sure he knew it was an 8. TTA's have their own sound.

My car isn't stock, but it has the stock chip
The stock programming will lock the TC in 3rd gear at WOT?

Between 75 and 80mph no matter how deep I am into the pedal the TC will lock. As far as I know, this is something the factory did to keep the transmission fluid temp down.

Prolonged WOT without a TC lock up can produce some impressive heat.
