I NEED TRACTION!!!
What are some good tires for my stock 16" Iroc rims. I need traction big time as i just roast the tires like crazy off the line and its totally killing my time. The car is a 87 Iroc and my engine is a 355 450 hp, tranny is a built 700R4 with a 3000 stall. Give me you opinon! By the way im running BFG comp T/A's that are probably about 7 years old but in good shape 50% tread. Stock size aswell.

buy u a set of 15 or 16 inch wheels them buy a set of 26x9.50 slicks and put them on the wheels and throw them and your floor jack in your car and change wheels and tires at the track.

What shape is your suspension in? A good set of shocks and struts along with a better torque arm, lcas and lca relocation brackets can do wonders for traction in addition to good tires.

Re: I NEED TRACTION!!!
I have a set of mt et streets on 15 steelies for the track. That combined with tubular lower control arms and relocation brackets, and tubular panhard, yielded me 1.7 60' times on a 8.03 1/8 mile. Granted my 10 bolt came apart on that run last night. But its all in tires imo. Nitto 555r's are excellent all around tires.

When you really start hooking up you will start breaking things if you launch at higher RPM's. As your tires age they get harder yielding less traction. Unless you are prepared to start upgrading parts as they break I would slap on a set of newer drag radials and launch at a little lower rpm. FWIW.

just remember a driveshaft safety loop goes along way when your shopping for slicks.

This for street and track? The nitto 555r is fantastic on the street in 245/50/16. But the Mickey Thompson drag radials work on the street and track, just don't expect the MTs to live for that long.
I've never run a safety loop. I need to. Cranked out 6.4s at my local 1/8th mile last Sunday and they didn't even mention I needed a roll bar.

Re: I NEED TRACTION!!!
Part of your problem is the tires as is the suspension.
I would suggest making a few changes to your suspension - to make sure any tire you use is going to be hooking up as well as it can.
For the most part, an adjustable TQ arm and also a pair of RCA will plant the rear end many times better than stock - assuming those parts are adjusted right when installed. Tires can do wonders too - a good set of drag radials can drop short times up to 1/2 second in some cases where traction is non existent.
