Runners

I'm thinking of porting my intake and my plenum this winter. Would it be better to get bigger runners or should I just port the stock ones??

It all depends what kind of budget you are on. Porting the stock equipment will show you some gains but they will be minimal. The advantage here is that it is free. For greater performance go with aftermarkt runners and port your own plenum. This is more expensive but tends to yield better results. Also without knowing your mods it will be hard to determine what kind of gains you will get with these kinds of modifications. hope this helps

Thanks. I saw a pair of runners from Doug Rippie and the were over $500 so that's why I asked if the aftermarket ones were better. All I have on my car are Edelbrock TES headers and Flowmaster. What would be a good pair of runners to put on?

The SLP runners are around $300, but you can get them cheaper. They may not be the biggest right out of the box, however, since they are cast aluminum there is much more material to work with (porting), and you have the added bonus of being able to siamese them and shorten your runner length giving you a little more top end. I dont have any pictures of the porting I did, but I do have the finished installed result.

slp runners are suppose to take some low end torque and give you more top end where needed..

I have to chime in here also - thats one beautiful looking engine. I cant imagine the hours spent detailing and polishing - simply awesome.

Two-thumbs way up.
