superram and spray
I also posted this in the power adder forum, but no help there, so I thought I'd give this forum a shot: I finally gave into temptaion and ordered a SR last week. The motor is geting a bottle for sure (100-200 shot) Originally with the LTR setup,I had planed on getting the plate over a direct port fogger setup. I was curious if any of you were running a plate setup with your superram? Is distribution a problem with a wet plate and the bigger plenum? Does anyone think that maybe the fuel could puddle with the large flat bottom of a superram?. Foggers are just a pain to install, and plates feel like they hit harder (i'm not saying plates make more power). I was just hoping to get a little feedback on this in case I got the urge to order a kit. like always, thanks guys

I have the old plate system by NOS and it uses two fogger nozzles. The car responds well with no problems. I don't know about the plates they have now with the spray bars. Maybe someone else will chime in.

I guess I should have looked. I assumed you didn't because I thought your N/A times would have been lower than 13.8 @ 99MPH with a SR.
Or was that with the old setup?
What kind of 60fts are you pulling and with what tires?

The 13.8@99 was with the original long block(194,000 miles) and a slipping 2nd to 3rd shift. My 60ft was a 1.97 on slicks so I had no traction issues. I just can't seem to better that with the superram since it starts building power in the upper rpm range. I used to have better 60ft times with the stock plenum and runners. It dyno'ed at 245hp 305tq to the rear wheels about 5 weeks ago.
I've now added AFR 190 heads and a LPE 219 cam. Before I take it to the track I'm going to rebuild my tranny and install a vigilante converter that I already have in my garage. Hoping for high 12's.

A friend of mine ran the SR with a 150 shot on a 383 motor. The car ran 12.4 n/a, and 11.4 on the bottle. He ran the bare necessities for safeties on the nitrous and never had any issues with the motor.
WIth that said, I have also heard many stories of problems also.
The problems come from the WET systems, which he also ran, and the SR. From what I have been told if your system is not setup properly, the nitrous and gas will contiue to be fed into the intake after you leave off WOT, at that point if enough collects, then you can blow the top right off the SR! They actually make a billet piece for the top of the SR for that reason.
Now what he has always done, and maybe the reason he doesn't have a problem is he keep the throttle at WOT even past the traps, and then shuts the system off manually, then only leaves off the gas. What this is eccentually doing is purging the intake of any gas and fuel that may have collected. WHen I say he shuts off the system I am refering to the nitrous system.
He has never had a problem, and to boot he has been running hyper pistons
To me it sounds like a time bomb about to go off, but he has gone through several seasons with it like that so, more power to him. :hail:
PS: I did see the intake on a C5 vette go through the hood for the same reason on SC/nitrous fed machine. When you start playing with that stuff, all your ducks better be in a row, or major damage will be the result.
As I always have said. The minute you put that stuff on your car, you better be willing to accept the possibility that you will need to do a major rebuild or worse everytime you activate it.
I know I could be running in the 9s right now with a 150 shot, yet to me its just not worth the trouble, at least yet anyways. Its by far the easiest way to add HP to a car, but as they say, there are no free lunches. You can pay now, or pay later
