H-beams are stronger and resist twisting better. They also clear large cams better.
Not sure abt the weight diff. I do know Eagle H-beams are heavier than stock rods.

I-Beams will also require some grinding on the rod bolts to clear the cam in a 383, very small amount that will not affect strength or anything like that. I am running Eagle I-Beams in my 385 with a CC XR276HR-12, I had to grind, but again it was no big deal, the grinding went down in my garage with a cut-off wheel on my die-grinder.

The design of the H-Beams allows for a greater level of clearance in a stroker application, grinding usually isnt needed even when running a good sized cam.

I am running eagle H beams in my wifes car. It is a 383 and did require notching of the pan rail to clear the block (LT1) I did not need to grind on the rod at all to clear the cam though, which is sometimes necessary with stock (I Beam) style rods. The H beams are stronger and weigh more. The Eagle I beams are really not much, or any in my opinion, better than a good p/m (LT1) or pink rod with good bolts in them.
Horsepower ratings on rods is B/S anyway. The RPM and piston weight is the biggest thing that can kill a rod. The faster you rev it the harder the piston pulls away from the crank and stresses the rods/rod bolts. Good bolts and stock rods in any motor with light pistons not going over 6500rpm should work fine.

The eagle h-beams seem to allow good clearance especially compared to what i've heard from people with scat and some other brands. check out http://www.dirttrackthunder.com/ they can save you a bundle compared to summit or jegs. Are you looking for 500 hp n/a or with a power adder? And what type of car is this ?fwhp?

Insomniac, it was kinda funny hearing about how my roomates mom freaked out when he drove up with a 400 block in the back of his truck . Hopefully I'll have it built by next summer, but i want to go all forged and use a 200 shot of laughing gas when i get tired of a mere 450+ hp and of course the list just keeps adding up...
