upgrading base on TPI
My car is a 1989 Firebird Formula with a 355TPI, these are the specs:
Stock 305 heads, recently machined
Mellings 424in 444ex lift cam
All stock TPI manifold, with SLP #25 injectors off slp.com
full edelbrock exhaust with edelbrock street legal headers, and 3" cat back.
basically, im thinking of upgrading the base to the edelbrock base b/c i've heard the stock base on the TPI is very restrictive... how much hp do you guys think im pushing right now? and if i change the base, which is like 380 bucks how much more hp do you guys think i will see with my setup?? thanks a lot!

Just for sh*ts and giggles using Desktop Dyno 2000, heres what i used and came up with.
355ci
L98 heads 58cc 1.94/1.50
TPI
Large Tube headers with mufflers
Edlbrock .442 Single pattern(close as i could find-didnt feel like making one)
RPM HP TQ At the Flywheel
2000- 156 409
2500- 193 404
3000- 226 395
3500- 257 385
4000- 278 365
4500- 284 331
5000- 273 287
5500- 249 238
6000- 212 185
Take away the ideal tune, timing, VE, etc. I would say fairly close. With an aftermaket base i would safely say add 5-10hp and 10-15tq to them numbers.
Just my $.02

what do you guys think would be worth it, just upgrading the base right now, or waiting a little, saving the extra cash and switching over to a TPI/LT1 from the LT1.com site... im still not sure how much it would be but it should be well over 500 for the whole project, lemme know, thanks
