9th Injector Delete

My old setup used the 9th injector. I've since changed to a set of ported 081 heads, intake base and runners. These came off a '90 IROC. It doesn't have the provision for the 9th injector now. I've been told this will make my motor run poorly if at all. How do I get around this?

You could switch to an 89 prom. They didn't have the 9th injector. I am no sure what would be involved, but VATS might be a problem.

Isn't there anything I can do with the stock ecm? Delete the injector or something? No way to bypass it?

I don't know for sure. I know they changed the fuel curve in 89 to delete the 9th injector. A search might be helpful.

Email or call Angel at TPI Parts(a site sponsor). He offers a reprogramming service for stock PROMs. It sounds like what you might want. Good guy, excellent personal service, easy to work with, quick turnaround.

I just removed the injector and the fuel tube (and pluged the fuel rail) and thats it. Never did anything to the prom. Car still started fine for me and ran like that for years before I sold it.

Really? Hmm...I'll see what happens once the motor is back together. If it starts and runs then righton, if not than I'll figure something out. Thanks.

Well, one thing to remember is that i'm in Houston. And if it gets below 50F people freak and think a ice age has started. If your in the great white north your car might be a bit more touchy about loosing the cold start injector.
