any problems with Jet chip?

has anyone had a bad experience with the Jet chips? im thinking about getting this JET stage 2 chip: JET-19112S

http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...T%2D19112S&x=0

mods are in sig. i have the fan switch 60600. i do have a lower temp than stock thermostat, but i cant remeber the exact temperature. i dont think i went as cold as 160. whats the stock themostat?

what kind of performance gain can i expect?

does anyone know exactly what these chips do? do they increase fuel or anything?

thanks

Re: any problems with Jet chip?

this really isn't the right place to ask about buying a chip.
performance gain? unlikely, performance loss? probably, along with a drop in fuel mileage.
in the "performance" chips i have seen, they turned fuel & timing both up by too much & not in the right place.

for not much more than what you would spend on that chip, you can start burning your own, which is what this part of the board is for

Re: any problems with Jet chip?

195°F was my stock t-stat.

And my car had a Jet chip when i bought it, in my case it was no good at all, sometimes it would run ok, but sometimes it would decide to barely run at all i bought a stock memcal to replace it and it ran fine from then on.

it really is true that a good tune cannot be made for a car, without getting feedback by datalogging the car.

The legs on the jet chip are just a little too short to keep the door open on a windy day.
So I guess there is no good reason to get a jet chip for your car.
