engine stalling!

FIRST BEFORE YOU ANSWER OR SUGGEST PLEASE READ MY IROCS PROFILE SO I DON'T HAVE REPEAT QUESTIONS

Ok when I first drive it around for a bit it seems ok til engine warms up. Then I'll get on the throttle really hard and let off and come to a stop at a say a light and the car stalls. It doen't chug, knock or anything it just stalls. It usually is a little difficult to turn over again, but it will start after about 20-30 seconds of cranking. Sometimes the engine light will come on after it starts up again and then it willl stall again. If I let it sit for a minute and then crank over again the engine light will go off. And then it seems fine. I noticed when it acts up sometimes too, after it stalls and I start it up again the idle will hunt a bit from say 7-800rpms to 1200rpms. But it will eventually level out about 750rpms.
What do you guys think?

Re: engine stalling!

I would like to see some responses to this problem too. I have the exact same thing happening. I couldn't have written my stalling troubles any differently.

Re: engine stalling!

I had the same problem with my 86. I have a 305 with TPI and it was caused by a bad intake gasket. Hope the helps
----------
code 42 is electronic spark timing. It says you could have a poor electrical connection or an open or short incircuit; defective ignition module; defective ECM hope this helps

Re: engine stalling!

I have the same thing going on with my daughter's 91 5.0 z28. I've taken it to the shop, they said bad TPS and MAP and bad plug wires. I took it home and replaced the sensors and went ahead and did the IAC while I was at it. I also replaced the plugs with Bosch platinum plus 2s, the wires with 8.8 mm MSD super conductors, the coil with a MSD Blaster, the cap and rotor with performance Accel units, the fuel filter and all of the vacuum lines just for good measure. Car does well when cold then is a mess once it has been driven for 10 minutes or so. any ideas?
----------
I wasn't very specific above, none of those items fixed anything. It may even be worse now. Once warm it surges in P or N now, stalls in D or R still.
