2030 is hydraulic roller cam. i thought before year 1987 TPI's were equiped with flat tappet cam. in that case swap wont be straight forward.

me can be wrong

just wondering

Thanks for the extra worries

Is that why that box came with 16 flat tappet hydraulic lifters?

you no worry then man changing cam wont be tricky. when you're removing the damper you'll need proper tools for that. i didn't have the tool once i was swapping heads and cam for 4.3 and it took some time to get dampa out. everything else would be just perspiration. well, oil pan/chain cover combination with new gaskets can be also kinda tricky.
hope you let us know how Camaro run with brand new cam

good luck,

Well the plenum, runners, alternator, distributor, radiator, and a few other little things are out. Tonight I hope to have the old cam out and the new cam in, then friday night I will be putting the whole thing back together. God i hope it was worth this

Holly Chit!!

Good thing I decided to put in a 'performance' cam, SINCE THERE WAS NOTHING LEFT OF THE OLD ONE. Two missing lobes and the bottom of all the lifters were mushrooming, harder than hell to get out of the holes, but today the new one slides in and she goes back together. (hopefully)
