HELP WITH IGNITION PROBLEMS ???????
HELP WITH IGNITION PROBLEMS ???????
I am having trouble with my car. First I started getting codes (42,44,and 34) . Here are the things that I changed distributer cap , wires , plugs ,TPS , and the roter .
I knowteced that the plugs were totally fould. So I did change them. Then it started running ok but it started stalling at idle and near idle . Then after driving for about an hour it would not restart for about 10 to 15 minutes. Eventualy it would not restart at all . I was looking at the sensors on the car and i relized the knock sensor was not connected. But then i was looking more and I could not find the wire that goes to it . So I looked at the ESC and traced the blue wire going from it and it was connected to the temp. sensor in the radiator.Oh by the way I fixed the knock sensor wire. OOPS i forgot to mention that my car is a 86 iroc-z 305 tpi So if any one can help Please email me at Poweruser_us@yahoo.com thank you

Code 44 is lean exhaust, code 42 has to do with the EST bypass being disconnected (did you set/check the timing?) to check the timing, the 34 is the MAF (but don't recall which).
Now a 44 lean with a MAF code could indicate a faulty MAF sensor.
I'd suggest changing the O2 sensor first, and seeing if it cures your ills, if still running rich, then I'd look into the MAF power and burnoff relays, then the MAF sensor.
