problem racing injectors

ok this makes no sense. how can we just pull the injectors out if they are down inside the hole. the clips will rotate but WILL NOT come out. how are we supposed to do this without removing the plenum/fuel rails.

Re: problem racing injectors

There are 4 bolts that hold the fuel rail to the intake manifold and keep the injectors and fuel rail in place.I just got my new injectors today! I have my whole intake off including my manifold. I think you must take the plenum and runners off.

Re: problem racing injectors

Yeah, I saw an article similar to it, I had a bad intake manifold gasket, so I ripped the whole thing apart, But I do know there are 4 bolts holding the fuel rail and injectors down. An I'm looking at my haynes book, it looks like the injectors stick into the fuel rail about a 1/4 inch.

Re: problem racing injectors

You have to remove the 4 bolts that hold down the fuel rails. 1st, disconnect the fuel lines at the front of the fuel rail. 2nd, remove the fuel injector connectors. 3rd, remove the 4 bolts (its probably a 10mm wrench). You could apply a little bit of WD40 on the bottom injector orings. 4th, pull up on the fuel rails, all 8 injectors will pop out the the bores in the intake manifold. Once the fuel rail is free, to remove the injectors from the fuel rails, carefully remove the clips that you show in the pic above. I think that they rotate around to a certain position, then can be removed.
