How should I start my IROC up after two years?

So two years ago I stored my IROC in the garage, filled the tank all the way up and put Sta-Bil in it when I stored it. Now my question is should I use this gas with a new fuel filter or should I try to siphon it out and put in fresh gas?

Thanks..

If it's only been two years and you stabilized the gas, just put the key in and turn it.

How long will STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer keep fuel fresh? For 12 months when mixed into fresh gasoline. Doubling the dosage will keep fuel fresh for up to 2 years.

Just start it up. It may run rough for a bit, but it'll eventually smooth out.

I had a tankful of Sta-Bil treated fuel in my motorcycle for over two years. The machine started and ran fine, but I only got 85 miles out of those 4.5 gallons of fuel.

Oh yeah, you'll need to charge the battery before you "just start it up".

Next time, hook up your battery to a maintainer. I highly recommend one of these:

I've regularly started vehicles up with unstabilized fuel that's been sitting for longer than that with no problems.

The fuel is probably ok, but I would either pull the diostributor and spin up the oil pump to get oil pressure up like you would a fresh rebuild before starting, or I would at least get the battery up really good and pull the coil wire and spin it over on the starter until you have good oil pressure. After you get oil pressure spin it for another 10 seconds or so to lube everything good before re-installing the coil wire for a start up. Once it starts let it idle for a while to circulate the oil really well before you rev it. The cylinder walls may be dry as well as bearings after sitting that long.

Not likely, the oil film lasts a looong time.

I wouldn't gamble on it. It is a lot easier to presurize the oil system first than it is to rebuild the engine because I thought the oil film was still there.

There's nothing you can do before start up that will fix improper storage. If there was no oil film, you'd have condensation and corrosion, and nothing you did could help that. Only two years isn't going to be a problem, though.

Talking about storage, I do not do anything special on my car in the winter, but I turn on the car every 3 weeks ....leave on iddle, and rev a bit for 1/2 hour.....

How do you guys storage the cars?

I park them and leave them. Start them up every month or two and run them up to full operating temperature. Sometimes if I know I'll be leaving it a while I'll put fuel stabilizer in, but usually not.
