MAF reading, is this normal

When I review my scan logs I find that when I turn the key to on but do not start the car, the MAF is reading like 23 gms/sec. Then I start the motor and the readings settle into a more normal 8-9 gms/sec at idle. BTW, no codes present.

Is this normal? The MAF is over 10 years old and was descreened and definned by TPIS when someone else owned the car.

Thanks in advance.

Re: MAF reading, is this normal

I think it's a default value, mine says 25 g/sec before starting up.
