Re: No start when hot HELP.....

Ignition Control Module located inside distributor under the rotor. Typical indiocation of it going bad. It's electrical, and heat build up kills it, causing a no-start until it cools.

Testable - but the auto parts stores cannot test for heat soak condition - so testing not really a viable option. About $40 - Just replace it and see if solves the issue.

NOTE - the flat surface of it gets coated in dielectric grease - make sure to do this according to directions - dielectric grease should be included with new part, but also available in one of those little $1 packets at the counter.

Also, some folks swear by the more expensive MSD brand (about $80), but most folks do fine with whatever local parts store has in stock.

Re: No start when hot HELP.....

Hi Shane,

Are the injectors the originals? With so few miles it must have sat for extended periods of time. I wonder if your injectors are leaking...so much that the engine is flooded and can't start. What if they were literally dripping fuel and you were waiting for the fuel to evaporate rather than wait "till it cools off," just maybe.

The best way to check the injectors:
pull the plenum and driver-side runner,
lift the fuel rail and injectors just enough to get a clean paper towel underneath each injector,
pressurize the fuel rail,
look for wet spots under injectors.

I had 4 of 8 injectors leaking and it was difficult to start after running for a time.

I hope this helps.

Re: No start when hot HELP.....

Before you changed the module, would it crank but not start after it was hot?
