tpi differences?

So i was looking in to swaping my car from carb to tpi and found a tpi set up from a 85 vet. I did some searching and read that the 85 tpi is different from the rest and that the 86 to like 89 had 9 injectors one for cold starts i guess. I was just wondering what year ones i should be looking for and what would be a good tuning system for it. Should i look into one of the holley ecm's or would somthing like that even work?

thank you Jesse

You are dealing with two systems ; the intake itself and the electronics.
You can play mix and match with them if you know what you are doing
You buy whatever year TPI intake you can get your hands on at a good price

For a computer (ECM ) 86 - 89 is preferred , faster , cheaper and more around .You need a ECM and matching wiring harness for your car
Not that it makes much difference to operation but 86 -88 had a cold start injector , 89 had the cold start built into the programming.

Re: tpi differences?

Ok so from reading the link and from what vetteoz said my understanding is that all I need to do is get any tpi intake and depending on the year might have to machine the center holes of the intake but other then that I just need to pick up an ecm and harness? So now I guess my question would be what style should I be looking for the mass or speed density? My engine is beefed up I guess you could say 11:1 compression comp cam 08-503-8 cam promaxx 2121 heads.

Thanks for all the help, Jesse
