My starter doesnt do anything when turning car over. I'm stumped

Well i went out to start the car today and she wouldnt even try to engage the starter. All connections are good, battery fully charged, vats is working properly, fuses are all good. Everything works like it should, but the starter is dead. WTF is wrong? The starter is two months old. Car ran perfectly, before this. oh yeah, I already checked the shifter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

get a test light and connect one end of it to the small wire on the starter and the other end to a good ground like the eng. block or frame. have some one turn the key while you are doing this see if it lights the test light.

if it does then make sure you have power at the large terminal just disconnect the test light from the small terminal and tuch it at the large terminal it should light it will always have power there.

now if it did not light at the small terminal while you tried to crank it over then see if the wire is broke or feels differand in a spot while you bend it. it is a fuse able link and is made to blow. it can be blown in side and will need carefull inspection.

Make sure you're getting voltage to the starter, both places like Rod said, you may also have a bad ground to the block, you can check this with a multi-meter if you have one. Put one lead to ground on the block and the other on the positive terminal of the starter, should get close to 0 with the starter engaged. Those lifetime warranty parts can be junk sometimes.

If you are brave, try to short the connecter with the big wire from the battery to the wire that goes into the starter motor. It is directly under the big wire. Use a large screw driver. If the motor is good the starter will spin. If the motor spins and there is power to the smaller wires then it is your selinoid (sP) Thing on top of starter.

Well i tested it out today. There is no juice getting to the small wire. The starter is good. My ole lady was the last one to run the car and she said it smelt like plastic burning. SO the wire must be shot. Does anyone know where that wire leads to, so I can replace the whole thing. Thanks guys.

Check:

1) Yellow wire from column, energize when in crank?
2) Yellow wire near what would be clutch pedal, safety switch -
should also energize in crank?
3) If both energize, you must check the relay which is located
in the drivers kick panel. This would essentially stop it from
cranking. If I remember correctly, the thick red wire is to the
starter. energize it, see if the starter cranks.
