HELP!!!!!!! idle problem

Howdy, This is my first post here, been lurking in the shadows for a few weeks and now I need some help.; My 90 formula is a 305 TPI 5 speed. Just noticed that it was surging at idle around and now its idleing 2300 rpm? Whats up? I just got a TPS and will put it on later. Thanks a bunch

Ron

Welcome to the board.

- could it be that your throttle cable is getting stuck?
- Is your cruise cable set too tight?
- major vacuum leak (have you done anything to the car recently)?
- bad IAC or TPS.
- have you reset IAC and set the TPS voltage to .54?

That's all that comes to my mind.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I sprayed a can of carb cleaner in the TB why I was keeping the rpms up. I was real nasty, but that was last saterday. I changed the plugs and oil also but that was Saterday as well. I will try replacing the TPS Thursday and report back. Thanks for you reply
oh ps the cable is loose and is not holding the butterflys open.
