corvette servo

hey, hows it goin. my car (92 rs camaro) has a slight slip in third, and it hasn't gotten any worse or any better for the last year and a half or so. i was told it would possibly be a loose band, or fluid pressure. it didn't start slipping untill about a month after i installed a b&m shift improver kit in my tranny (700r4-4l60). i was told if i installed a corvette servo, it could possibly eliminate this problem. could someone please help me out. thank you, chris

from what i have read, the corvette servo was designed specifically to take care of the "flare up" on the 2-3 shift. hopefully this helps and i know there is someone out there that knows a little more, so hopefully they will chime in.

on the 700r4 transmissions, it was very common for them to have this flare up on the 2-3 shift. what it is, is simply that at the time that the tranny should shift, the rpms jump up a couple hundred rpms or so before it shifts. so it revs the engine before shifting. this was a common problem that was known to gm about these trannies.

does yours do it on the shift or after the gear has engaged? how many miles are on the car?

That is what it sounds like to me. Mine does it also and I am going to try to save the money for a rebuild or else get another damn loan. I hate borrowing money. Only thing that mine does not do that yours does is make the clunking noise that you mentioned.

that would be a good idea. if the servo doesn't fix it, then rebuild it and put the corvette servo back in when you rebuild
