WHat cars should I look to pull a rear differential from? How hard is it to take on eout? I am a virgin to doing this so any info would be greatly appreciated.

91-92 Z28's w/L98 350 came with 3.23's and posi rear. Or just look in the glove box of the donor F-Body and see if the RPO code sticker is still there. If it is, look for RPO codes GU5(3.23's) and G80(posi).
Re: Posi please :)
What all would I have to do to get one of those suckers out?
Is there any trucks or anything that has posi that I could take out the reat end? An astro van or anything? The rear gears can be bought with an installation kit fo r cheap.

If your serious about removing one in the junkyard, then you will need to come prepared. You will have to get the rear axle completely of the ground, and have enough room for you to get in there. Use jack-stands or blocks to support it, NOT just a jack.
Anyway, I'm no expert at these but here's what I know. The wheel's will have to come off, along with the brake assemblys. Diff cover is removed and fluid drained. There are main caps in there that hold it in, and I'm pretty sure you will need a stick magnet to pull the C-clips out. The axles will need to be slid outward to remove the center section. I'm sure there is something else, but at that point it should be pretty visual.
Sorry I cant be of more help...

Just pull the whole rear housing off a Camaro or Trans am, and put it in your car. It's pretty easy:
disconnect brake line
remove drive shaft
unbolt shocks
remove springs
unbolt LCAs, panhard bar, and trq arm
Install is opposite of removal. You will have to change the speedometer gears if you want the speedo to read correctly. And if you get a rear with disk brakes, then you should install a prop valve for rear disks.
What it cost me
$100 for the rear at a junk yard
$200 for the rear LS1 brake setup (backing plates, rotors, calipers)
$65 for the 1LE prop valve
$30 for the hard brake lines
and some other expenses such as new axle seals and bearings, mobile one gear oil, speedo gears, paint, ect
I also got SS flex lines which was $100 for 5 lines, (2 for the front, 3 for the rear), and a LS1 master cly for $20.
