Debate: T5 difference Between V6 and V8

OK, i'm going to stir it up a little here. I've heard people say that a t-5 out of a v6 car is weaker than a t-5 out of a v8 car. Does anyone know FOR SURE that this is the case? I find it all but impossible to believe that Borg-Warner would go to the trouble of making an already weak transmission weaker. It doesn't make sense to me. I know the v6 has a 10 spline input shaft, but that doesn't account for the supposed difference in strenght.

let the bidding begin, lets here some debate.

thanks

While no one has shown me official numbers on the 2.8 v6 T5s, I've read about Fords i4 T5 and it's just a little weaker then a non-wc. I see no reason why the Ford i4 T5 would be any different from a 2.8 v6 T5, they both stare high gears and a different input shaft over the v8 versions. With that said the i4 T5 was rated at 235ft and 240ft lbs, v8 non-wc was 265ft and v8 worldclass was rated at 305ft lbs. http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/D...66/t5data.html I won't even start on the whole need to swap this and that to use it in a v8, other then I'm sure you'd need parts from a non-worldclass T5 to do it, since parts from wc and non-wc are not interchangeable. Don't know if any that will help you, but you never know.

I've already got the WC T5, i was just wondering what makes one weaker than another. You brought up a good point about gearing though. Different gears can definitely change torque capacity numbers just due to, we'll...gear ratios and mechanical advantages.

I'll ask another odd question in case anybody who knows or cares happens to read the post. I've got two non wc t5's. one from a mustang (i took it apart and the shift forks were broken, i'll assume most everything else is ok). The other is from my 83 Z28 (when i bought the car the gears were shot from running hot, low on fluid).

I've been thinking about the possibilities of morphing these two to make one useable non wc t5. i don't expect anyone to know whether this is possible or not, but incas anyone has done it, let me know

thanks
