700r4 reverse input drum clearance

Hey, I'm rebuilding a 86 model 700r4, and my reverse input drum clearance is to high i think. it is .090". What is the clearance supposed to be ? My 4 steels are .075, my frictions are .068 , my backing plate is .260" and my snap ring is .061. This is the early trans without the aux valve body, and its a steel piston. Thanks.
Mike

Also in my core i noticed that the reverse input drum has a bellville plate on the very bottom and the one im rebuilding does not, could i use that to take up some of the space? or is there a reason why that is not in there?

Re: 700r4 reverse input drum clearance

Get the plate at your local chevy dealer
----------
It should have the belleville spring in there

Re: 700r4 reverse input drum clearance

If the drum has a steel piston, it will need a waved steel on the bottom, then clutch, flat steel, etc. DO NOT use the Belleville on a steel piston setup. The waved steel will reduce the clearance. Dana
