I was thinking of getting one and having it put in,how much do you think an average transmission place would charge??

Depending on the version you get and the business/technical knowledge of the installers, it SHOULD be in the $300-500 range.

 

I kind of agree, if you want it done right, its going to be at least 200. I don't see 500 but anyways, if you just want it done, there are alot of places that will do it cheap. You get what you pay for..

The Shift Kit lists for $60-$130 depending on which one you get. A shop that intends to stay in business and not hire some hack to work on your pride and joy will charge minimum $50/hr to $70+ shop labor rate . Some vehicles can be a real joy to get the Servo out of. We will go with four hours labor on this (one person).
Add it up: Minimum $60+$200=$$260+ oil. $130+$280=$410+ oil (did you say you wanted Synthetic oil?, you are right to $500).


As for $150 being reasonable, are you saying with or without the cost of the Shift Kit? I will assume you must just mean labor W/O out parts. $150/4=$37.50/hr. Out of this comes the rent, insurance, utilities, advertising, payroll and if anything is left over, profit for the owner. As with anything else, there are allot of people who claim to work on trannies but not that many that know what they are doing or they don't understand that when you don't charge enough you run the risk of not staying in business

 

Or you could just install her yourself, it's not that hard. It's a drop the pan, bolt on operation.

 

That is so true. With the TransGo Reprogramming Kit it can be bought with a video to let you know what you are in for. Just make sure you take your time. It won't matter how quick it was done if you have a problem afterwords.
