700r4 problems. Reverse and P
hello from Spain. Me English it's not very good. I hope you understand me.
This morning I have problems with my 1990 3.2 V6 firebird, with a 700R4. The reverse gear doesn't work, it's like in the Neutral. The rear lights works, but the car doesn't move. The P doesn't work good also. It's like if a gear was actuating and the car moves when I accelerate.
I have put off the console looking for broken wires or conexions, but it seems to be ok. Under the car all seems ok. I thought that some silenblock could be broken, and that the motor or the bar have changed their position, but they are in their place.
I changed the transmision oil and the filter, a year ago, but I put a little more over the mark.
I have read the services codes, and I have 4 :
22--steering column resistance too low
32--grounded 36 VLR to deployment loop
35--discriminating sensor open
13--oxigen sensor circuit
anybody have any idea ? It's very dificult open the gear box to look for the reverse control valve ? I have only open a manual box, but never automatics

Is the shifter cable mount ok inside the console??? I'd start there....

Sounds like a shifter cable problem - replace (get GM if possible, others no good).

I saw the cables in their place, and in good conditions ( I think they are the park and shifther cable ). I have take off the pan transmision oil, under the transmission box, and when I change the shift position, I see how the shifter cable moves the carrier plate, and all the gears seems like works good.
But I put the car in a elevator, over the floor, to see how the wheels moved, and when I put the reverse, the wheels did a "clack", but didn't moved. And when I put the N, the wheels moved like in D, and the P was OK ( I had a mistake in the first message ).
Any idea ?

I have open the tranny, and I have seen something strange with the check *****. There are a check ball case with a little damage, like as the ball had too much travel and the ball consume it ( sorry, the photo it's very bad, I will do it better ). And with the gasket it happens the same. I have read the manual service, and says that it's the "55F #8 check ball (2nd /1-2)".
It's posible that I was losing fluid presion for there ?
