Contact Pattern
Was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction with this contact pattern? Im new to doing ring and pinions. These are used 3.42 gears out of a 98 camaro. Back lash is at .10 right now.

Re: Contact Pattern
Used gears are a little harder to work with. The gears I used were used and they have a slight whine when coasting at a certain RPM. I couldn't get a perfect pattern on them so I did my best.

Part of the way down the page is a good diagram on tooth patterns.

Re: Contact Pattern
The drive side has heel contact, and the coast side has more toe than it should. Try and get the coast side closer to center and the drive side closer to the toe.
