What is needed when switching to a TH350?
I am beginning a motor swap on my 86 Iroc z, I am dropping a 383 Stroker in with a rebuilt TH350... What all am I going to need for this change in tranny? I was told I have to do something with the kick-down cable? Or buy a new one?

Trans, driveshaft, torque arm, crossmember.
Torque arm is the biggest of course since it will no longer mount to the trans. Buy something like this which relocates the torque arm to the crossmember.

I actually recently have done that, and the only thing i had to get new was a cross member. And if you have any fab experience or know of anyone who does, take off your torque arm mounting hardware and have someone mount that to your new crossmember. And shifter linkage. Be careful not to strip the holes for the linkage on the tranny itself..then you will have a whole lot of things to play with. Trust me I know from experience. I had to get a piece of angle iron, drill holes from my pan bolts, get tons of washers, and drill holes to match my shifter linkage. It can be done..but my oh my

Do I measure my tranny from front to tail or what? is that how I get the length? I know the short is like 5" vs. the long is 9" right?
Thanx Rob that was a nice site link. I have been looking @ BMR but that is everything all in one is it not?

Your gonna measure from where the tailshaft bolts onto the end of the tranny. Yes longs are 9" and I have heard that there's medium abd short tail shafts that are 5" abd 3" but I think that's hogswash.

th350s come with 9, 6 & 4 inch tailshaft lengths. the 9 inch will allow you to re-use your driveshaft if it originally had a 700r4. not sure if you can re-use the 4-speed o.d. shifter? i used a z-gate. not sure on speedo compatability either,...i never hooked mine up. going with a suggested crossmember like above is probably the best way. i modified mine to be able to attach the torque arm mount. not pretty, but it works better than it looks. not seen in the pic below is a hole drilled straight down on the end of the piece of angle. i also drilled a corosponding hole in the transmission tunnel. then i conected them with all-thread securely. with the all-thread i can slightly adjust the pinion angle & it also supports the end of the bracket. crude,...but its been working fine for 2 years now.
