700r4 giving me fits!

Just did an engine swap and my previously fine transmission is shifting really hard and late. I adjusted the tv cable as far back as it will go at WOT but it still isn't quite tight enough. Ive seen a million topics about adjusting it today, and it seems my tranny will be on its way very shortly if i can't figure this out. Anything i can do? this car is my DD and I cant afford tranny work after the motor swap.

Did you keep the same induction system? You didn't switch from tbi to carb etc...?

well i swapped out my bad LO3 for a carb'd 305, but i used my intake/TBI setup instead of the carb so the brackets should be the same, correct?

Is there any shade tree quick fix i can do? Looks like a few well placed zip ties might shorten it up some.

It also feels like the tranny is causing the engine to stall in gear. It idles perfect in P/N and if i'm already moving and let off the gas, but the second I come to a stop it wants to stall out unless i two foot it. It could be unrelated, just my current theory because the engine rund pretty damn strong for a 305.

Re: 700r4 giving me fits!

fixed my stalling issue. Still can't figure out this friggin tv adjustment. It's supposed to be tight at WOT, correct? i have it adjusted all the way back and it still isn't tight there, and if I try to shim it out with zip ties it is too tight at idle and won't let the throttle return to to idle. Any ideas?

Make sure you're adjusting the cable correctly. From Dana's site and forum:

I'm such a dope lol. I had the two cables on the throttle body switched, had to look at some pictures to finally realize it. Still shifts a little lower than I would like but I can't tweak it yet since I'm about to be punched in the face by Sandy. Appreciate the help! Can't believe it took me that long to see that

Make sure you have gotten the brackets to correct the geometry for the TV cable it may effect your shift feel if the geometry is incorrect and will damage the trans.

summit sells others these are some you need the bracket and the corrector

Re: 700r4 giving me fits!

Thanks for that. I believe I should have the same geometry, I used my TBI/intake from my old engine on the new one, so hopefully I'll be good. I'm shifting into 2nd at about 8-10 mph, and 3rd at about 25ish. I know that's a little low so once the storm passes i'm gonna get under there and see if I can adjust it better or get the right hardware.

Also, I got my pics from the swap, what would be the appropriate section to upload them and formally introduce myself here?
