need help choosing a rear housing
Looking to up grade my 10 bolt. I want to fab in a 12bolt /8.8 or a 9". I am going to run SSM SFC and cross member with lift bars so the torque arm will not be a problem. looks like the stock 10 bolt is 57" wide from backing plate to backing plate and 62" axle flange to axle flange. My question is what rear is closest to that width? I would prefer to run the 8.8 because of availability. I am pretty sure the fox body 8.8 will be too narrow but don't know by how much. Would love to hear your guys input on this. Thanks. Ed

The FOX Mustang rear end is 59 1/2 inches total width. The SN95 Mustang rear end is about 60 1/2 inches wide. The '71 to '81 Camaro 8.5 rear end is 60 inches total.

cool thanks it looks like the 99/04 stang rear is the way to go. Going to hit the local you pull it soon to see what i can find. Maybe I can sneak in a center section from a explorer or a pick up I think they are 31 spline
