Re: B&M megashifter console shifter
if you do not plan to race, it will be more of a pita than anything, imo
they are big and bulky and do not help anything for street driving, and if i remember right, they do not fit all that well in the stock hole in the console ... it is mostly just to make shifting into the next gear a little safer (as in not going into 3rd from 1st) so you do not lose to many rpms ... to me, if i didn't have a manual valve body i would not want another one

Re: B&M megashifter console shifter
haha, i am getting an old style ball shift **** for my 89
Re: B&M megashifter console shifter
Just not ergonomic. T feels better in the hand. As for drawbacks on the B&M, it doesn't have the ignition lockout provision does it? That means it can be shifted with the key off and the key can be removed in gear.

Re: B&M megashifter console shifter
It does have a neutral safety switch, as well as a switch for the reverse lights, and if installed correctly it will only start in park or neutral and the reverse lights will light up only in reverse. I've had two, the first worked well for a while until it jammed up. I replaced it with another of the same model, and had issues with it. I could get it to go down to 1st gear, but it wouldn't engage park, if I adjusted it so that it would engage park I couldn't get 1st gear. Wasn't ever really happy with it after that.

Re: B&M megashifter console shifter
You know, it's been a few years but as far as I can remember you can hook up the cable that goes to the ignition lock.
Re: B&M megashifter console shifter
I just know a member had a thread where he was installing one and couldn't hook it up last week or so. Wasn't sure if he just couldn't figure out where or it had no place for it. Maybe someone else can chime in.
