Aluminum Driveshaft Advantages/Disadvantages?
Thinking of purchasing an aluminum driveshaft to replace the stock steel one (found a fairly cheap one in good shape).
Other than weight savings are there any other advantages?
As far as disadvantages do aluminum driveshafts break easy?
Can aluminum take the consistent torque of the stock 305 TPI?

My virus scanner picked up a malicious script on that page.
I hate seeing the claims on how an aluminum shaft reduces vibrations. They do but if you have your steel driveshaft balanced or have a new better steel shaft made, it will be balanced, you should see the same claims.
OEM aluminum shafts are not very strong. The biggest advantage is the weight saving. I run a 3" x .083 steel shaft on my race car with 1350 yokes. Never had a problem with the torque I'm making or for the brief period I'm at 150 mph. However to be on the safe side, I also have front and rear driveshaft loops.
If price was no object, I'd get a carbon fiber driveshaft.

Def advantages to using aluminum.
I have seen CF drive shafts get longer and destroy itself and a transmission!
No matter what you choose, read up on them as much as you can and pick what's best for your car.
Google "driveshaft Critical speed", its something your shaft needs to be able to handle if you plan on running them hard..
