Beast Sunshell upgrade question?
If I upgrade my sunshell to the beast, will I have to adjust the endplay? Looking on Monster trans .com and they have two available. The beast for 60$ and a heavy duty sunshell for 40. Which one should I get. That doesn't involve adjusting endplay.

Were can I get that one at? Is it the 40 dollar one that monster transmission has on their website listed as heavy duty sunshell? I checked your site but you didnt have em listed.
Re: Beast Sunshell upgrade question?
Try E-Bay. Call Monster and ask them if it is a oem sunshell. I would list them, just too much to ship. If theirs is heat treated at where the output sungear splines in, then you should be ok. What horsepower are we talking about here?

Re: Beast Sunshell upgrade question?
If you want a Beast sunshell, I have one sitting my box of spare parts. The beast is bulky and heavy, made from thicker material than a sun shell needs to be. I decided not to use it. I rollerized my 700, replacing every thrust washer with a Torrington bearing. For this reason, I used the Sonnax smart shell. It has a Torrington in place of the thrust washer, hardened splines and lugs. It's light like the factory sun shell but strong where it needs to be.
With all roller bearings, I run .005 -.010 end play.

I am full roller/5pinion planets and have "the beast" in mine because the HD GM unit wasn't a thing then. I really should put the newer GM part back in. Have a weird vibration

Transtar Industries near you because they are a transmission parts warehouse.

Re: Beast Sunshell upgrade question?
Nice looking parts stack up. Pretty much identical to mine with the Smart Tech housing and those great servos, except for your 5 pinion rear and that 6 pinion ratio change front. Next time I go into mine, I'm going to the Sonnax HD input shaft, ratio change front and probably the TCI 5 pinion rear. TCI seems to be the only domestic manufacturer still doing the 5 pinion planets for these guys. They are pricey too, $370 for the rear alone, but worth it for the quality, just like Sonnax. I would have used the HD input shaft when I installed the Smart Tech Housing but they weren't doing the shaft then.

Re: Beast Sunshell upgrade question?
Just got it in the mail and I can't really tell the difference. Seems just as solid as my original. Sounds different when I knock on it though.
