ID rear end from SPID?

Hi gang, was wondering if you can ID whether a rear is a 9 bolt BW or a 10 bolt from an SPID. The 89 IRoc vert has spid codes Gu4 and G80 and I know they mean 3.08 posi but would this be a 9 or 10 bolt?

Thanks for any assistance you can provide

Not trying to be a jerk, but honestly, the best thing is to simply get under the car and look.

The axle could have been replaced....that’s what happened to mine.... and I’d never had a clue until I eyeballed it.

Get under the car and count the bolts on the differential...

That's not really a bad thing. Both the 10 bolt and 9 bolt are only so-so pieces of hardware. At least you can get parts for the 10-bolt. Both need to be replaced if performance is increased much.

Re: ID rear end from SPID?

And that's a problem because... ?? You would prefer to have something you mostly can't buy parts for, and what little you can buy, is $$$$$$?

Apart from all that, what exactly are you interested in here? Let's talk BIG PICTURE... don't get all bogged down in how you're gonna kill the alligators, when they sent you there to drain the swamp, but the REAL END GOAL is to build a bridge. Like, what if you could build a bridge and (a) not have to drain the swamp at all, and (b) the alligators didn't matter? Think like that: what your goal line in the sky is, THEN worry about how you're gonna get there. But don't get all hung up on the steps "you think" have to be taken along the way, until your vision for the future is clear. Sounds like you have a TBI car; you're A LONG WAY from having to worry about which model of rear you have. Even though it sounds like it might be a stick shift.
