where exactly is the computer in our cars? ive heard some people say it might be in passenger dash or passenger kick panel, and is it worth getting a chip upgrade for a 2.8L v6?

If you are on the passenger side of your car, simply lay on your back into the passenger side floor under the dash, and it will be right there above you.

As for getting a chip upgrade, there is a lot of controversy over them. I have a 3.1L V6 A4 and it made my car shift higher, thus I gain more speed. As for the guys with a 5 speed, well this isn't an issue. Also it eliminates the governor. So it's your call... That's just my opinion on it.

You have to remember that the aftermarket chips (hypertech, jetchip, etc.) are designed for a generic setup. So while you might see a little improvement, it won't necessarily maximize engine performance as they claim. The best way to upgrade your computer is by burning a custom chip specifically for your car. Tunercat is currently working on adding the ECMs from the v-6 F-bodies, but it's still in beta testing. But getting into PROM burning is expensive, and not really necessary until you do some major mods to your car.
