Noticed A Few Things

I had to make a last minute trip out of town last week. I was quite impressed with the car, I walked around it, kicked the tires, turned the lights on, popped the hood, glanced at fluids, took off. While on the trip, noticed a few things...

1. I GOTTA get the spair in tight, anyone have pics of how their spare is held in place??
2. I have to get new door seals, the drivers door leaks air bad, possibly water also, where can I get these, how hard to install??
3. There is a little light under the dash, faces down on the radio and heat controls, HOW COOL!!!!!
4. Hail and water is really loud when you have no head liner, plus lets your heat out fast DAMNIT!!
5. If I didn't need new front struts, and alignment, I do now
6. Must get cup holder, must get cup holder!!!
7. Got 18.5146 mpg (car dislikes below freezing air) in town, between 24.331 to 28.347 mpg on highway w/o cruise.
8. Car cools way to much while driving, anyway to make it cool less while driving??
9. Sunvisors could be bigger, with mirrors, anyone swapped these out?
10. Had enough luggage space, tell we stopped at the Precious Moments store, and bought some stuff. Mrs loves that stuff.

Anyone having info on my questions or thoughts, feel free to post.

The Spare, I ram the jack between the tire and the well. Seems to hold tight enough.
Door Seals, JC Whittney, 55-60 I think.
Headliner, MIGHT be in JC too!
Cup holder, universal thing, put in that joke of a center console "glove box" works fine for me.(Then again I am thin enough to where I can put the soda between me and the center console resting on the seatbelt clip!)
Cool less, put a piece of cardboard in front of radiator, not too big, maybe enough to cover 1/4-1/3 of radiator. Check your thermo, it may be stuck open too. Mine is a 180 and I have heat and keep it after 10-15 minutes.
Sunvisor, probly any GM 3 bolt? or it is 2 bolt type should do.
Luggage space? Yeah right.. these were not meant for luggage space.

I have a Right fender off a 91 in good shape. 60 bucks, plus S&H.

3rd tail lights changed over the years; '86 is the only year to have the third brake light on the top OUTSIDE of the hatch glass. Then the third brake lights went into the spoilers. 91-92 have them on the INSIDE of the hatch glass. You just have to figure out if you want to drill holes in the outside of your car

When you do your headliner, you could probably make new sunvisors... cut a new piece of cardboard, and put new material over it.

Restoration places like http://www.1aauto.com and http://www.yearone.com and The Paddock (see their ad in hot rod magazine) have the weatherstripping, too.

I'd help ya with the spare but I think they attach differently then they did in '86...

Are you recovering the headliner yourself? If you also re-do the sail panel covers (speaker covers) and the visors with the same colored fabric (hey who the hell just made popcorn???? Ugh, now I'm hungry, dammit), then that would probably blend the color in better, and nobody would notice a difference.

So what years did the 3rd break light come in the spolier so I can find one. I dont care about a hole for the wire. Also, would I have to find a new hatch glass, or do you think that assy can be pulled out, and it look fine with the glass I have??

Camaros had the 3rd light in the spoiler from 87 to 90 I believe.

Not sure, never checked out the brake light of any 87-up f-body. Your brake light has holes that go thru the glass?

I've got the brake light in the spoiler too... heh, jealous? I love it!

Anyway, you'll need the entire hatch, more than likely. There's a ~3" hinged tab that goes to a 4 metal tabbed relay to power the light. I'd get the entire hatch + the rearmost plastic trim piece (that covers teh trunk latch) and you should be able to just run the wires to it, from the brake lights!

I could definately use a cupholder. I can't tell you how many times I have gotten a slushy and have no place to put. I get the 72 oz ones so I have to strap it in to the passenger seat to keep it from spilling on my $10 seat covers.
