Bad Vibrations
Hey everyone, I've got yet another problem. I'm not sure though if this belongs in the Suspension or General Tech sections, though.
Reciently I rotated my tires myself. After that, surprise surprise, the car vibrated once I got the car moving at highway speed. I then got the tires balanced. After that, the car is smooth again, until I hit 70 MPH. One I get to that point, the car begins to vibrate again. I feel it through the steering wheel as well as my seat. What more could be causing this?
On a possibly related note, when I cut the wheel hard and I'm going slow, I hear a popping noise that sounds like it's emanating from my wheel wells. The same guy who balanced my tires, a friend of mine, said he checked out the steering stoppers, cause he thought that was what could be causing it, and he said they were fine, and thought it could be a strut mount. What do you all think, and could these two problems be related?

you guys should rally check the front end components, like Dale said. just jack up the front end, grab the wheel by top and bottom, and try to move it back and fro.....check where play is. mine was the centerlink, easy to tell.
good luck

Yea, sounds about right. I'll take a look at it myself, and if I'm not too confident in what I think, I'll take it to someone who'll know. Thanks

I checked you website pics of your car- looks to me like you have some kind of funky snow tire on there. That will vibrate at those speeds no matter how much you try and balance them. Snow tires are not designed for high speed use.

Yea, I had to drive my Camaro this winter, so I had winter tires put on. But, I was able to drive at those speeds without the vibration before. I don't know, I'm sure they aren't helping the situation. It's cool, I'm gonna be buying another car this summer, and then the Camaro is staying home and getting some work done to it. One thing I'm doing is finding some nice stock 16" Camaro wheels and then getting nice tires for em. By then I'm sure it'll be fine. Thanks.
