180 t-stat

i just put in a 180 degree t-stat today and later on i was checking out www.v6fbody.com. i saw something on there that said if you put a different temp stat in, you have to change the prom. does that apply to our cars or is it 4th gens?

well, the prom is set up to run BEST at the default temperature.

So more than likely, all you are doing is HURTING performance by using a lower stat temp. You probably dont HAVE to get an upgraded chip, but you would notice a better performance increase with one...

I run a 180* but I also have a custom 4-core radiator and a different prom with altered fan run temps.

Yep, sure do.

Just don't go down to a 160-165 T-stat.

I just put a 180 degree thermostat in my car, drilled 4 holes around the outside of the stat too and the only difference I've noticed is my car isn't always running at 220 degrees, it still takes off as fast as it did before, and I don't seem to be getting any worse gas milage so I dunno. I could also be a retard.
