mods: please dont lock this it is v6 related just not 3rd gen.

ok on the the problem, well my car wont start. first i thought voltage, but its showin good, i got a new alternator and new battary 2 months ago. it cranks but will not fire, when i pump the gas i hear a POP like a backfire but a deep soft one. i drove it all day today and started it atleast 20 times. tonight i did leave my window down and it rained in my car. car is a 4th gen camaro so it has the window switchs in the door panel, i have that piece pulled out to replace lock switch, it did rain in there and i am hoping it shorted and blew a fuse. and other things u guys can think of. this car has a quiet fuel pump so i cant rule it out just yet. but i think cause of the backfire i am gettin fuel. it could be the opti spark, but does it go out like that? i had just started the car about 3 minutes before, started and ran fine. I really need my car back, thanks guys

water on the interior, is very unlikey to blow anything engine wise. If I am not mistaken, the 4th gen have all their engine stuff sealed under the hood?

at best, you might have blown a fuse, but I will say nothing that could/would keep the car from starting.

EDIT:
If the column got wet, you could have blown something though.

 

1. What is the fuel pressure reading?

2. Check out my homies overheere for "other" 4th gen issues

3. Get ecm/coil paks checked. THey're up top in front, so it will be easy

 

it just happened last night, im about to go check all the fuses now and pray that it is one. i think it had to do something with water cause it started right before it rained

 

update: GRR i had this all typed and i got kicked off line. ok, now for the update, it started! but took about 20 trys and when it did start put out alot of smoke,also there was a strong gas smell. it idled very rough for about 1 minute, so rough that it wouldnt idle on its own i had to keep it at around 3000 so it would me smooth. then after 1 minute it ran fine idled fine, started a few times fine. Could this be a ERG problem? What other things might cause this? I do know my CAT is bad, it is broken up inside. Ill start it again this afternoon when i get home from work. thanks for u guys' help

 

another update: we out there this afternoon to let someone (lockdude) see what it was doin...and guess what. it was perfect. he left and i went to drive it, and guess what its idleing 3500rpms and looks to be smoking blue smoke. it also smells really bad. the idle is so high i cant drive it because it keeps accerlerating (sp?) and is hard to slow it down..please help me

 

wow yet another update: welp i tried some throdle body cleaner...no go..still the same. so i unhook the battary and let it reset. no go. im thinking it might be the EGR valve...does anyone agree with me??? Also it could the idle air sensor (same as idle speed senser, or so the parts guy says)...help me...i really need my car back!

 

update again: I ran the codes again, my friend was doin it wrong. it just consectivly flashed..none stop...bad ecm?
