Code 32 and EGR crap

Alright so I've been getting this "service engine code" recently on my car. I checked it and it's a code 32, EGR crap. Looking around online a little bit I found out a valve is $300 for this which isn't a small chunk of change when you've just gotten a house. A guy I know has been offering to make block of plates for removal of the EGR and being not as experianced as a lot of people I figured I would get other peoples opinions on taking this off and the effects it would have on my engine, as well as if there would be any possible way to get rid of the service engine light since if it's broken and it's on I'm betting it'll be very on when it's missing. Any imformation that could be offered on this subject would be greatly appreciated, especially if anyone knows what the most common reason for the code 32 is and if it's a cheap fix most of the time.......

When are you getting this light? Mine was coming on once and a while, mostly on the highway I think. Anyways I did a diagnostic check on it and it appeared that the controller was shot, so I bought a new one for about $120ish. No light since.

I drive like 55miles to work and back everyday and right when I hit my off ramp usually it comes on. I couldn't remember exactly what the book I got said the code was but I know it said the valve so I figured for the hell of it I'd check prices and that's what I found....even $120 for a controller is more then I'd really want to spend if I could just take it off and not damage the car any...

When I bought my Camaro back in Feb. The SES light came on when I was crusing on the interstate. Code 32 ....... I replaced the EGR valve and the SES light still came on. I figured that it had to be the EGR solenoid.

Instead of dishing out mega bucks for a new EGR solenoid I picked one up at the local junkyard for $15.00. Took it out of a junk Firebird. Never had a light come on since.
