Voltage issue?

I don't know if this is where this should be posted, but i know you guys have alot of experience with these cars. As you know I have a 88 2.8 firebird. Well I been noticing sometimes my car does not start, the starter clicks, but then it starts eventually. Tonight it was raining and was cool, so I had the fan cranking, the lights on, the rear defroster and wipers. Well i pull over and get out and start talking to somone for like 5 mins, when i get in, the lights on the dash seem dim and the int light is dim along with the fan spinning slower. Now i revved it up and everything got brighter, and was fine while i was driving, but it tends to do this, now the first thing that came to mind was the alt, however that is brand spanking new, like 6 months. The batt in it is 3 yrs old and sat for like 6 months for a while. Could I just have a weak batt or is something else going on? Thanks

i wouldn't be too alarmed. it will drag power down on the battery if it sits idling like that with stuff turned on. the reason that everything brightened up when you revved it up is that it turned the alt. faster and sent more power to the battery...recharged it. turn some stuff off next time without revving it and you'll probably notice a differnce then too.
