I have a glasspack where the cat should be, followed by straight pipe on my 86 firebird 2.8, and it sounds bad. It is annoying at highway speed.

They do flow well and give the car a better V8 with leaky headers sound.
I find it more loud down low. Once I get in 5th and just cruise its toned down allot. Everyone thinks its a V8 now. No more V6 sounds. Every yahoo I come close to try to get me to race.
Everyone who ask is suprised when I say it just a six.
You can see my new single side pipe glasspack exhaust here.

It use to be in the back but then I turned it into a single side pipe. Plus changed the side of the car it exits on.
[much quieter on the right.]

wow dude, i really like that side pipe, that looks killer! is that really loud? because i want it to sound good but not too loud that it drowns out other sounds such as my radio.
and by the way what size piping are you using?

I always heard from people that glasspacks sound ***** on the v6's. For $160 you can get a dynomax catback and MANY of people claim that it is the best sounding exhaust on the v6, i have it and i think it sounds like a 8 up until 3500rpms.

if you run a glasspack with a high flow cat it's mellow and gains sound as your rpms go up. got them on both car and they sound great and you can feel a gain. just run stock pipe and put it in place oh your muffler.

If you got money for hi flow race parts then by all means do it.
But on a $30 budget you can't miss. $20 muffler, $8 for piece of pipe some scraps form old exhaust and few $ in welding wire.
+ 99cent black paint.[red glass pack stuck out like sore thumb.]
Works great.
