Crankshaft keyways
okay, I know this is gonna sound dumb, but (1) can you use the keys from the old crankshaft in the keyways of a new one, I'm asking because I recieved a rebuilt crank, but it didn't come with it's keys or Woodruff keys (i'm not sure what they're called), So I want to use my old ones, is that okay? Also, (2) how do you remove the keys and then how do you install them? It appears to have two of them in-line with each other, but I may be mistaken so please correct me if I'm wrong. (3) I need a gear puller to remove the timing gear to get to the key, right? Or can I use "other means"?

Re: Crankshaft keyways
(1). There was only one key on my 3.1L and I re-used it on my remanufactured crank.
(2). I used brute force...no other real way to get 'em out as they don't come out easy at all. I forget how exactly I managed to get it out but for the most part, I just used a brass punch and a hammer. As for re-installing, just tap it in, and make sure it's seated correctly.
(3). The puller is the easiest way...afterall, the right tool for the right job always makes it easier. Someone else may be able to suggest something though...
