85 2.8 not running right
85 2.8 not running right
hi guys, im new to the forum, i have a 1985 camaro with a 2.8 it has like 95,000 miles last summer it developed a small ticking sound, that i was told by 3 different mechanics that is was a spun rod bearing, i have driven the car for almost 5 thousound miles with this ticking sound, so i dont think it is a spun bearing, and i heard my friends car that actually has a spun bearing and my is a light ticking compared to his. i should add that it doesnt make the ticking sound until the car is warmed up, now this summer also after the car is warmed up, it starts to run real rough, almost like its not firing on all cylinders or somthing, but im not sure, if anyone has any advice for that would be greatly appreciated, im not sure if the two problems are related or what, someone told me that it could just be the vaccum lines and both would be fixed, so i think i will start by replacing the vaccume lines
thanks,
troy

Without hearing the sound, its tough to diagnose. it could be a spun bearing, a collapsed lifter, a loud injector, exhaust leak.... How credible are these "mechanics"? poeple you know that work on cars, or are they actually certified techs? as far as running rough, they could be related depending on what is causing the ticking. do you have a normal idle or does it seem to be high when your first start it? start by looking at all the vacuum lines, trace them from end to end, look for cracks or breaks.
