Proper MAF de-screening question

last time i did this, i ended up having to buy a new MAF...and their not cheap. Whats the "proper" way to take out the screen? I noticed a quite LARGE difference from screen to no screen and back..and no screen is much better.... anyone?

i did it on mine with a a hook made from a cut up metal coat hanger and a big screw driver, use the screwdriver to carefully puch a hole thru the screen and use the "hook" to pull the screen out being careful not to touch the elsectionics under the screen.. note on some v6 firebirds (i forget with which motors) youll pull a SES light after punching it out, this is because the bend that is in that intake tube in front of the MAF the reason for this being is in this setup that screen straightens airflow up so it passes thru the center of the MAF properly.. if you get the code, just try taking that bend out of the intake tube...

Before u even do this, read Vader's response to my question about modding the MAF here, Take this link: https://www.thirdgen.org/messageforu...ML/001579.html
What he says really, is that only a heavily modded 350 would benefit from this.
