2.8l Header question.

I need some help. I am going to take the heads off of my engine and port them. Are they hard to get off of the engine. Also are there any shortcuts to get them off. Thank you for your help.

Russell

EDIT:Im sorry not header, head.

Nothing to tricky.. I would order the kit from east wood to do porting and polishing.. Then I would getthe heads cleaned by NAPA or something before ya begin.. Then I would take them to a shop and let them put on new valve springs and the 1.52 rolelr tips, take it home and gasket match it.. Even clean up the bowl area if ya can..

There's a raised floor in the intake ports that you shouldn't grind down. It looks like a steep hill, in each intake port. GM added it to increase flow. Maybe you want to pick up a junkyard set of heads to work on first- unless you have another car to drive around in.

Well actually I have my 88 and an 86 that I use parts off of. So that way I should have an extra set. Also I will be doing this with my friend Bleak at a machine shop. The guy that owns the machine shop will know exactly how to port it.
