i recommend that you stop driving like a maniac. j/k, no really, when i drive aggressively(lead foot) i get around 14 mpg city. if i drive like a granny i can get 19 mpg city.(but then it's no fun). maybe your foot is your problem.

With that gas mileage, you should DEFINITELY consider learning how to burn your own eprom. I get over 27 US mpgs with my L98 auto with 3.23s. And that test wasn't even with an "aggressive" setting. I am shooting for 30 US mpgs.

With the money you would save on gas (I am sure that "optimzed" V6 should get close to 35 US mpgs), it wouldd EASILY pay for all your eprom burning equipment is a very short time (along with additional power if that interest you) AND then with the continuing savings, you could buy more "go fast goodies".

Just a thought.

Hey Glen, does that at all hurt performance? Could you have more performance if you went w/ a little less more MPG, and went for more horsepower? The reason that I say that, is because I always thought that the more power the lesser the MPG is!?!? Thats why when something has lets say a supercharger/turbo, they get less gas milege.

Help me sort this out!

If you have a manual just shift all the gears at 2000 rpms and you will be good. Just kinda sucks till it gets to 4000 rpms . I never drive slow, I don't care if I get 8 mpg I can't have an old *** lady in a toyota carola beat me at the light, even if we aren't racing lol. But **** mpg and drive like you own the road! Shesh, you own a Camaro! Nuf said about mpg.

RS there are two ways to add power to an engine. One way is to increase the efficiency of the engine. This means that you will be taking in the same amount of fuel but getting more power from it. This can be accomplished in many ways. Increaseing airflow in and out, decreasing friction, and improving the completion of combustion are just some of the ways. These generally improve power and mileage. They will allow more fuel to be burned though so you can decrease mileage if you have a lead foot. This gets to volumetric efficiency of engines. This is basically the persent of air and fuel that you can get into and out of an engine. As this goes up so does power. You can hurt your fuel mileage in this area if you are not carefull. In general, most of the common performance mods for out V6s increase mileage if you can keep your foot out of it. I recomend ignition, exaust, and intake first.

Garmer, that's the beautiful thing about "optimizing" the eprom; you get the best of both worlds. When you are just cruising, it leans itself out to get the maximum gas mileage it can. By invoking the "Highway Mode Spark Advance" you retain most of your part throttle responsiveness with it. How does 17.2-17.4:1 AF ratio with over 45* spark advance grab you? At part throttle, there is no problem with knock retard kicking in.

Then, when you encounter a slight grade/hill or just give it a little extra gas; it returns to 14.7:1 with a "normal" (well my normal) spark advance of 38-42*. Again, spark advance is what gives you that throttle response everyone likes.

Lastly, when you want to pass someone, it goes into Power Enrichment mode (the ecm does not use WOT, it uses PE) and you pollute good like a car should. You get EVERYTHING this way, all done automatically through the eprom. Completely seemless to the driver. You barely notice it when the engine "super leans" itself if you advance the spark around 45*.

Basically, you are getting the mixture to be on the verge of detonation; and that's the trick to making all this eprom stuff work. Both for maximum gas mileage and maximum performance.
