WaterPump Question
I'm about to replace th watr pump in my camaro but I came accross this in my haynes manual "caution on some V6 engines, the water pump bolts hold the timing cover to the block. Removal of the water pump may break the chemical seal & allow coolant into the oil...."
It says on SOME V6 engines. Will I have to worry about this on my 87? or maybe its just an 82-84 thing (pre fuel injection)
TIA,
Don

Yanno.. if you actually searched the archives before asking you'd have found your answer.. I don't think I'm willing to do that simple thing for you either since you didn't. Sorry to be an **** but I *know* there's a message on this, and TomP gave a really good answer to it.
[EDIT]
Ok, so being a nice guy kinda overrides my unavoidable urge to go off about searching first... but please.. search first, ask later.

to tell u the truth...i dont think u need to worry about it. When i changed it, i used precaution and used some clamps to hold the timing cover on while no water pump was on. Thats it...i didnt have any problems. lemme tell u though....grab sockets with allen wrench ends or torx ends or ull NEVER get those god damn bolts off....!

yeah, dunno about all 6's but mine used torx bolts. and for some stupid a$$ reason they used like 3 different sizes. anyway, i picked up a torx socket set for $10 at wal-mart in case you don't have em.
