V6 Performance Parts

Where do you guys get your V6 performance parts? I've been going through the big Summit Racing catalog, and all I see are parts listed for V8s. (even the Summit web site has very few parts listed for V6 applications) I just want to be well informed before I walk into Summit, and have to deal with those people. It's just a whole lot easier if you know what you want before you get there) Don't get me wrong Summit Racing Equipment is an excellent parts supplier, it's just that some of the people working behind the counter don't know an ignition coil from a sub-woofer. If it's not on the computer screen they are lost. Does Summit have a special catalog for V6 parts? I've never had to buy parts for anything other than a V8 before.

(Non-Performance)
Pioneer DEH-P4000 head unit
Pioneer 6X9 Tri-Ax speakers

Nightshades spray tint)

(Hopefully these lists will grow quickly)

I like to think of it as a empty canvas

I always deal with Summit... I tell them the car, the year, and the engine (2.8), and they always get me the right part. As the bottom of the catalog says, "If you don't see the part you need, call!" I'd say they're the most knowledgable people I've dealt with over the phone.

I have dealt with Summit for almost 15 years now, and like I said they are a very good parts distributor, it's just that some of their counter people could use a little more of an automotive education. It's a little different when you are dealing with someone face to face, than it is over the phone. I just like to know what I want before I go into the store, as opposed to being told what I can have once I've been standing in line for 45 minutes. I was just wondering if they had a listing of parts and prices for V6 applications that I could look at before going into the store.

What i did was go to all the performance parts stores that dealed with nothing but performance parts and just kinda hung out inside and talked to the people that worked there and listened to them as they chated with various customers, after awhile i found this kick *** place called C&D's Performance Shop, its a family owned place so mabey thats why. Point is if you talk to the people and they dont know what the hell they are talkin about dont stick around too long. I get all my parts at C&D's now, they dont discriminate V8 from V6 and dont try to con you for your money either, when i bought my Hypertech chip i talked it over with the guy for like 20 minutes since i didnt know if i wanted it or not but i finally ended up buyin it, i've gotten all my performance parts from there.....what was the question again??

My brother just clued me in. He calls and talks to a service rep (who is about a thousand times smarter than the counter person) he gets all the parts numbers, for the stuff he wants then takes them directly to the pick up counter, when he goes to Summit, and never has to deal with the counter people

You know, I didn't see you were from Ohio.. that's cool as hell. That store must be amazing to walk through.. I think I'd be there every day.

When I check part #'s, I use the web a lot. For instance, my last "checking" through http://www.carparts.com proved to me that our V6's use the same distributor spark module that the V8's use. Then I went to http://www.holley.com and http://www.mrgasket.com and looked up part #'s for the V8 module. It's a lot of hunting! I'm like you; I get my part #'s, then I call Summit's "part # only speedy line", and take care of my order.

The Summit showroom is only about 20 minutes from my house, and it is an awesome place. I go there once every two weeks or so just to check out the clearance room. (that's where I got my cat back system for 50% off regular price )
