got ses codes

just picked up a code 12 ad a code 44... tonight i had my tops off, had gone over to someone's house, and while i was there it rained...well, everything inside the bird got wet, but everything seems to be working o.k., i had 1 inch of water on the seats though, the rears were down and didn't get hit badly though, but the fronts are soaked. Could the comp. have gotten wet and messed up, cause the code 12 says that no data to ecm and 44 is just an O2 sensor, says its running lean. Should i replace the O2 sensor,? and how tough is that? tanks in advance.

Code 12 always comes up before any of the other codes. The oxygen sensor isn't too bad especially if you dont' have gfx or you aren't lazy like me and jack the car up, just spray it with some good rust busting crap and it comes out pretty easy.

Very easy to replace. You might need to buy a wrench though. I *think* it's like a 22mm...something big. I just remember it was bigger that any wrench i had.

The Bosch sensor part # is 12014. That one comes with the factory pigtail connector; some other brands want you to make a splice to re-use your old connector.

First, check to make sure the wire coming from the oxygen sensor hasn't melted on the exhaust. If it hasn't, when ypu put the new sensor in, make sure the new wire's clear of the exhaust.
