V6 debate?
V6 debate?
I encountered something interesting in checking my 1985 Camaro's VIN number. It said that the engine code letter was "S", however, that was only in 1986 that the "S" was a code letter, not '85, anyone know why I would have a 1985 car with a 1986 engine?
Any info at all would be appreciated

Er, as far as I know, all 85-89 MPFI 2.8's hold engine code "S" (RPO code is LB8). The 82-84 carb'd 2.8's had engine code "1" (RPO #LC1), and the 90-92 MPFI 3.1's held engine code "T" (RPO code LH0). In fact, for the most part, you could go to an auto parts store, tell them you have a '89 2.8, and you'll get the same parts. Where did you read that in 85, there was no code "S"?

I was at Mad Mikes Camaro and Chevy info page, and when i checked his decoding for VIN's, the letter "S" wasn't an option, it was either a 1, 2, h, f or something like that, so when i came to thirdgen.org and did there's, they said the engine code was 173 ci V6 (1986), and it made me wonder thats all. I was just seeing what was up with that
