Here is what happened for me at 16 all those years back. It was my mothers car, I made honor roll to get the honor roll discount, I took drivers ed to save there. I was then put on as a part time driver. It was close to 2000 for me

First off take drivers ED... it will save you bundle...

Second, price around, then stick the two closet together to see who can do the best.

I pay 177.50 a month, thats for 2 million PL/PD, and comprehensive, so its about $2100 a year.

Oh yes, 5000, maybe if you had 3 accidents and 5 tickets. As long as your driving record is clean, your good to go at a lower rate than 5000.

Oh yes insurance is cheaper, for the little V-6 too vs the V-8.

Good luck

Heheeheh, i pay 79.00 a month on the V6 and 125 a month of the 78 T/A. Course i am 32 years old, no accidents, never a ticket - i out ran the PD MuHahahahah <---- JUST KIDDING!!!! Seriously tho, at anything below 25 you are gonna pay a arm and a leg. You pay for being male, you pay for being a new driver and you are paying for being young with a sports car, doesn't matter its a 6 or a 8 at 16 to 24. Females get a better rate - there "safer drivers". As you hit 25 you will start getting breaks for things like being married, having kids, living away from major highways or dense towns. Being a smoker increases your rates. Being divorced increases rates. <--- go figure, i was less stressed the day my divorce was final. No accidents, no tickets are the big things. There was a study done when i was 15 and taking drivers ed, i will never forget the first day... the teacher comes in and looks at the class of 25 and says first thing. "this room full of 15 to 17 years olds is great, to bad out of the 25 of you, 2 will die in car accidents within the next year, 5 will be put into a serious condition and 7 will be injured before you hit 25. You have a better shot at winning the lottery then hitting 30 with no tickets or accidents".... DAMN IT!!!!! i should have won the darn lottery!!!!! Scary thing is one of em was killed in a head on not 6 months after that, not sure of the others as i moved from the town shortly after. Ahhh the good old days of learners permits at 14 hehehehe

The only good thing about saskatchewan is cheap insurance. My license is $25 if i got into an accident it would be $125, then $325 on the second and $625 on the third. Insurance my '83 will be $608/year, a brand new trans am is $2200/year. I thinks its wierd you can insurance but have no collision payout. Basic here has collision and $200,000 liability. We're not sue happy here so thats good enough. it also doesn't matter v6/v8 only firebird/firebird formula/transam have different rates and it only like a $30 a year differance. Age/sex don't matter here until you get into an accident then they will try to rip you off on your payout wether or not it's your fault.
I got a speeding ticket for going 145km/hr in a 100km/hr zone and now license will be $35 next year. all those surcharges go away after three years too.

When I was 16 I crashed my dads tempest 3 times, got three speeding tickets and a ticket for blowing a stop sign. the next year my license was $800.
When i finally totaled the temepest my dad got few grand more than what he was trying to sell it for so other than the hassel he broke even in the end.

Shortly after that SGI changed all the rules and kids get probationary licenses and get it taken away for a month if you get a ticket. 6 months if you're in an accident. I think for the first year your're not allowed on the road after 10pm before 6am too.

and remember those are canadian dollars
